back in time = visit in Fazenda Santa Maria

On Saturday we ( me , Dri and Luisa- her host sister) went to the Fazenda Santa Maria .
Fazenda is a farm, and this one is historical, traditional, old one.
The "climate" there was like in the brazilian soap opera, styled on the old times...
It was soooo nice there, I could have felt like in the old times...
This farm was set up at the end of XIX century...
the first picture you can see , is the museum - but it was the house where the family - owners of the farm used to live...
actually- our "guide" was the descendant of the "founder" of this farm .
in the museum we could have "smelled" the old times- old books in "library homepage", could have listened to music from gramophone, read some old newspapers, sign in to the"guests' book"

I need to expain the picture with Dri - on "funny chair".
This double - chair was for children. Usually the parents were sitting on the left and on the right, and in between them there was a chair for children to sit- this chairs' location enabled family to talk ;))) interesting- isnt it ???

and this fazenda specialized in coffee, and stilll specializes in it nd exports coffee to Europe.
Close to the aqueduct ( on picture ) - there was a big place where the coffee was stored ( after it was transported from the plantation, once a year - in June) and dried.

The interesting thing about our sightseeing and visiting this fazenda was that there was group of 4 american people ( foreigners are unusual to meet in Sao Carlos ;PP) but it is not the point.
One of the guy was the man who was considered as the candidate for Nobel Prize in physics ;)
what a luck ;)))

and then in the way back, when leaving the fazenda we were witnessing the birth of lamb, so we stopped the car, went out to see the first steps of this small creature in the world....

what a day ......!!!!

first "SEE U" party of my dear DRI !!!!!

Something starts to make something end...
everything which has start usually has ending....
but if the start and the time in between start and ending is very good, full of happy moments, full of new experiences, full of moments which change your attitude to life, to people and to everything what is around, full of moments which help you to get to know yourself better...
if this time is not "wasted" ( the way you think about it ) then - "the END" - even if it is "worthy" to be sad, still is extremely difficult and arises many question marks .....

it was good to have another party to meet with people... but it was also sad to realize why the people got together again this time .... what was the reason why people felt like attending the party even if they have a lotttt of exams and many things to do....
Cause there are things which are important and there are things which are more important....
and being there was "more important"

So about the party ....
it wasnt "crazy" party.... it was extremely nice .... but different....
in fact we tried to forget about the reason of the party- as it was one week before "the END" of "Dri's brasilian's adventure" and we went for a party with attitude that we gonna have fun and the time for saying "see u " we will have during the whole week...
So there was pizza time, pictures' time, time for dancing traditional brazilan dance - forro, time for watching video prepared by AIESEC for Dri , time for laughing, "enjoying" the evening .... there was time for being happy together ....
and we were happy, and we were together....!!!!!

Last weekend 21-22.11.09 we had reuniao geral ( general meeting) of my NGO.
It was kinda important one, as it was with around 60 new members of our NGO, after recruitment process.
So during the days - Saturday, Sunday there were some lectures and workshops - about the NGO, to let the new people get to know and understand the structure better.
But of course the social part of the reunion had to be included aswell.
That is why - on Saturday evening we had a integration party with live music !!!
Super extra great band which played samba rock ;)))
we had really perfect evening !!! a lot of fun !!! especially because it is always nice to get to know new peole, and the music was sooooo good ;)))
and beer aswell ;PPPP
but the funniestthing was to get to the party !!!
we wanted sooo much to be inside theparty's place but we had to wait in the car around 10 minutes cause it was raining as crazy !!! even if the distance was around 100 meters we would have been completely wet after running to the party. We even couldnt have driven the car cause we couldnt have seen the road in front of us and couldnt have found the entrance - louco !!!!

Lately - here in Brazil - the days are extremely hot, sometimes there is no air to breah, and there is no sun and no wind ( you can imagine - parówka) - and afternoons there are storms and it is raining as crazy till the evening or even whole night long, and it is not small polish rain - it is usually "shower" from the sky !!!!

NAPRA Sao Carlos new members ' "social" welcome on board

After first processo seletivo ( recruitment process ) to my NGO - we organised the "social evening" to get to know each other better.
The evening was really nice - delicious pao de queijo ( cheese bread ;PP ) and other "salgadinhos" - salty things to - something like starter ;) good to eat when drinking beer.
So we had also the "name game" to get to know other's names .
THe nicest part of the party was when the lights went out !!!! not only in the flat we had meeting, not only in our district of city, not only in my city ..... ti was the day when the lights went out in 10 states in Brazil and whole Ecuador !!!! - so we had a party with light from the car and then way back home - in darkness- crazy !!!!
but we had really nice time ;))
As you can see - one of my friend - Pintor ( since he twisted his leg with new nickname ---> Padre ;PP ) - strong enough to attend all parties , even with twisted leg ;PPP and we - me and Dri decided to make stupid pictures with crutches ;PPP

Copacabana in Sao Carlos = summer beach party

This party was CRAZY !!!! LOUCA!!!! It was 2 weeks ago - 14 of November ( Saturday )
crazier than ever, cause there were soooo many people ( was extremely crowded ) and it was hotter than ever !!!! it was the warmest day here in Brazil since I am here !!!! I was dying !!! no air to breath - so I needed to drink cold drinks !!! ;PPP

The party had special climat - it was supposed to be BEACH PARTY - Copacabana Beach Party, so everything was arranged in this way :
The guys from that republica painted pavement in front of the house in "copacabana style" - black and white "waves"
There was aqua do coco ( coconut milk) - as you can see on the pictures - and again - brazilian smartness to use some deviced in the way I would have never expected and would even think about it - look how the guy makes a hole in the coconut.
Clever - isn't it ????

There were also ice creams, a sand on the ground, delicious fruity drinks - caipirinhas and caipiroscas ;)) and cold, freezing beer of course ... band who played music , showers to refresh for those who felt too hot...
but my friend - Joao - whom you can see on the first pic decided to refresh everyone - so he started to put a water on us - I wanted to make a picture of him ( with some pose of him) so I was waving to him and calling him - but probably he misunderstood me and thought I was asking for "refreshement" so the results of this missunderstanding you can see also on pics - I was completely wet !!!! I didn't care about it , and I felt a bit "colder" but then when one guy asked me - "did you sweat so much ??" ;PPP I started to think that this could look strange ;PPP

Still the party was really really good !!
and the interesting thing about parties here is that they start usually in the afternoon (this one officially started at 2pm) and last till 10-11pm, as people dont want to make a big noise for neighbours ( probably) so then the party finishes at "normal" hour and usually there is "after party" in some bar or pub, but Ive never gone, and I think not many people go, after 7-8 hours of partying.... usually people are "tired" or "happy enough" when the party in republica finishes...
